Relais & Châteaux
Relais & Châteaux invites travelers and wellness seekers to embark on a “Journey of the Soul” and experience the different massages and spa rituals at its various hotels and resorts in Asia.
Take your pick from traditional Thai massage, otherwise known as Nuad Phaen Boran, offered at a trio of hotels - the Rachamankha in Chiang Mai, The Eugenia in Bangkok and Phuket Pavilions. Or go straight to the roots of India’s Ayurvedic Kalari traditions, from which Nuad Phaen Boran is based, at the Malabar House in Kerala, the birthplace of Ayurveda.
If you’re feeling more adventurous, arrange a session of Tui Na (traditional Chinese acupressure) and foot reflexology at the Hotel of Modern Art (HOMA) in Guilin or brace yourself for a more intense Indonesian technique called the Urut at the Matahari Beach Resort & Spa in Bali. Complete your Balinese experience with the gentler Pijat massage and a traditional Balinese spice body mask called Boreh at the Bali Pavilions, which will leave you all pumped up and reinvigorated. To round off your wellness therapy, get a gentle rubdown at the Japamala Resort in Tioman, which combines traditional Malay massage and aromatherapy using local herbal roots and flower buds.
