 Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket serves up its 9th annual tennis doubles tournament
Phuket, Thailand – Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket will hold its ninth charitable tennis doubles tournament – „Annual Smash @ Dusit‟ – on 17-19 June 2011. Proceeds from this fundraising event will go towards purchasing essential items, sports equipment and stationery for students affected by recent flooding in neighbouring Krabi province. Held at Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket‟s onsite tennis courts, the three-day event is open to male and female players of all ages. Phuket-based tennis instructors and hotel staff are traditionally invited to participate, and entrants are categorised in one of two leagues: Hoteliers or Open. More than 50 players from all over have already signed up for the competition. Eight winning teams from the first-round games will proceed to the quarter finals. Four quarter-final winners then compete over two semi-final matches before the remaining two finalists play for the overall title. “Tennis is considered a „lifetime sport,‟” said Mr Peter Komposch, General Manager of Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket. “We always encourage all hoteliers and residents working and living on the island to enter the Annual Smash @ Dusit, “We organise this social event every year in order to help promote healthy, balanced lifestyles to our staff and friends in the hospitality business, as well as their families. Joining such a fun community get-together also helps cement strong teamwork principles.” continued Mr Komposch – who will present the event‟s awards ceremony after the final match on 19 June.
