Love Aid Phuket organizers are in talks with a number of well-known international acts to be flown into Phuket for the relief concert. Core organizer Edgardo Tanael from Kata Beach Resort said: “We are in talks with several big-name acts at the moment. We have had many positive responses from well-known international bands and performers. They are allvery keen to participate and we are finalizing some details, but I’m afraid I can’t reveal any names yet”.
Kata Group Resorts and Centara Grand Beach Resort have garnered support from several other major hotels in Phuket, all of which have pledged their full support for the Love Aid Phuket fundraising event, donating time and resources 100% free of charge.
“This is a one-off fundraising event which gives the people of Phuket a unique opportunity to embrace the spirit of giving and donate to a very worthy cause. Everyone involved is ‘giving 100% for Japan’ to ensure as much money as possible goes directly to thosewho need it most. ” said Mr.Tanael.
More than a week after one of the most powerful earthquakes ever recorded caused a devastating tsunami and wiped out whole communities in northern Japan, thousands of Japanese are still without basic essentials such as food, water, shelter or electricity.
Rotary Club committee chairman Brad Kenny said, “funds generated from the Love Aid Phuketfund raiser will be funnelled through the Rotary Club of Patong Beach to Rotary International Clubsin Japan that are already active in the devastated areas”.
“All Rotary Clubs are 100% volunteers which means 100% of any donation through Love Aid Phuket will go direct to disaster victims in Japan,” said Mr Kenny.
