Radio Personality To Pull Six Tonne Truck 100 Metres For PAWS

PHUKET, THAILAND – It’s here! A first on Phuket. Is this guy nuts or stronger than he thinks?

Watch professional dog trainer and triathlete, Russell Distance Russell, pull a six tonne truck 100 metres over uneven ground to raise awareness of the work by Phuket Animal Welfare Society [PAWS] at the Quest Family day at Laguna, Phuket on 27 March, 2011.

Commented Russell: “ I’ve have done some daft things in my time, but this probably takes the cake. I’m sure I can do it but it will be tough so we need a big crowd of cheering kids and adults to inspire me.  Luckily, the PAWS truck won’t have any concrete in it, but it will probably be full of kids and parents - so it will still be hard to get moving and cover the 100 metres.”

Russell said apart from the sponsored truck pull, the aim of Quest Family Day more about creating a community day and having fun, rather than simple fundraising. There will be lots of activities for all and sundry to partake in.

Informal ”fair ground”  activities include such fun events as sponge throwing [ kids, get your own back on mum and dad], apple bobbing [ an apple a day keeps the doctor away ], bottle rings, shaving balloons [ that’s right! See how easy that is ] guess the name of the teddy bear or the number of jelly beans in a jar [ the winners of each get to keep the teddy bear or the jelly beans].

Food and beverages will be provided by Gitano Restaurant, The Andaman Wine Club and others.

As well as all the fun and games, there will also be a live DJ to blast out music throughout the fun day so kids can break into dance when not pelting mum and dad and their teacher with wet sponges.

Event Details

The event opens at 12pm with focused team events from 2.30pm-4.30pm a dog show by the Thailand Canine Academy at 5.30pm followed by the sponsored truck pull, closing at 6pm.

It will be held at Quest, Laguna. Go to Laguna, turn left at the road to Laguna Beach Resort and follow the signs to Quest on the left. The venue is cool, leafy and with plenty of room for the kids to let off steam.
