The 9th International Football Tournament at BIS Phuket -
November 05 (Fri) - 06 (Sat) 2010 | All Day
INFORMATION: Football was the sport this weekend at the British International School, Phuket. Around 700 young football players came to the school on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th November to participate in the school’s annual International Football Tournament.
Schools from Brunei, China, Malaysia, Korea, Singapore, Vietnam, Phuket and Bangkok came to BIS Phuket to participate in the tournament’s five age categories, Under-9s, Under-11s, Under-13s, Under-15s and Over-15s.
A staggering 74 teams were entered in the various age and gender categories by all the schools participating! This made for a lot of games of football to be played over the two days of the Tournament.
The first day saw all the group games being played out, with the second day, Saturday, seeing all the play-offs take place, as well as the finals.
With so many teams present, BIS Phuket’s 39 acre campus was once again transformed into a very lively football carnival this past weekend! Emotions ran high on the 10 Football fields at BIS Phuket as everyone took the competition serious and wanted to win. That is not to say that there was also a great sporting spirit here and that everybody had a good time! One just had to see all the happy faces during the big Dinner after the awards Ceremony!
Spectators that came along for a fun day out also enjoyed themselves tremendously and also had plenty of opportunity to enjoy food and drinks from various food vendors present on campus throughout the tournament.
This event is a fantastic occasion for all involved, particularly for all of the students! While the exchange of cultures is beneficial, it is also important for the students to have some real competition against teams from other countries.
The BIS Phuket International Football Tournament has become a fixture on most schools calendar and we, as well as all the players, already look forward to more of the same next year! See you then!

World Aids Day Event & Designers against Aids in conjunction with BIS Phuket -

INFORMATION: World AIDS Day, December 1st, is dedicated to raising awareness about HIV/AIDS. Students from the British International School Phuket have contributed to this event this year in order to spread the word about AIDS to the youth of Phuket.
Events will be hosted in order to raise money for the Life Home Project, a local organization that helps children and women with HIV/Aids. These events include: a crazy hair fashion show with Model One Agency at BIS Phuket on Monday the 29th of November, along with HIV/AIDS education and awareness stalls and entertainment provided by the Hard Rock café. Students will also be raising funds for the Life Home Project by selling red AIDS ribbons as well as pizzas and bakery items provided by the Watermark on that day. There will also be AIDS Awareness and Education activities, a fashion show with the model One Agency and a concert by the “Chill” band from Hard Rock Café at Central Festival on Saturday the 27th of November.
Students will be involved in all of these events to help raise awareness about HIV/AIDS to the youth in the community as well as raise much needed funds for the Life Home Project.
